Pregnancy and Osteopathy

Being in pain can sap the joy from your pregnancy and no woman should have to endure unnecessary discomfort.
Having a baby can be one of the most momentous and beautiful occasions in your life, however your body undergoes significant changes to accommodate the approximately 20lbs extra weight of your baby and the fluid around it.  It is no wonder then that pregnancy can be associated with pain.

Osteopathy aims to address some of the imbalances that occur during and after pregnancy, thus easing some of the discomfort of pregnancy, aiding in preparing the body for the actual birth process and assisting the mother in recovery after the birth.

What can osteopathy help with during my pregnancy?

Osteopathy can assist in minimising or eradicating the "side effects" of pregnancy, such as:

:: Back Pain
:: Hip and knee pain
:: Groin pain and PGP (Pelvic Girdle pain)
     Formerly known as SPD - symphysis pubis dysfunction)

:: Sacro-iliac (SIJ) pain
:: Rib pain
:: Reflux, indigestion, constipation & heartburn
:: Wrist and Ankle swelling due to poor circulation
:: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
:: Sciatica
:: Neck pain

Then once your baby has been born, the body has to cope with an endless cycle of changing, feeding and lifting, all in a chronically sleep-deprived state. But as every parent knows, every moment is worth the effort and rewarded by every shining smile from your baby.

My aim is to support women though pregnancy, labour and then post-birth. And as they grow up, babies and children may have their own problems.
